Dear Eagles,

What a snowstorm today!  The students loved building snowmen and other snow sculptures at their recesses.  Please remember to send students with appropriate clothing to be outside in the weather.  Snow pants, gloves, boots, and hats are all welcome.  Also, the snow seemed to make masks get wet at recess and many students didn’t have a spare in their backpack.  Be sure to have some spare masks so students are comfortable in class after their recesses.

CSD to offer popular fifth-grade maturation program online

While growing up can be hard, talking about it needn’t be.  To help families rock “the talk” — even in this pandemic year — Canyons School District is offering its popular maturation program online.

From Wednesday, Feb. 24 through July 31, fifth-grade students and their parents will be able to access the program online at no charge through a password protected link. The presentations are conducted by professional speaker Carrie Ann Kemp who has been educating and entertaining young audiences, and their parents, for 20 years.

Through a time-limited license, fifth-grade families will be able to access the programs for boys and girls through a password-protected link. The aim of the program is to provide consistent, sensitive and approved instruction districtwide. Versions are available in English and Spanish.

Detailed instructions for accessing the courses have been emailed to all fifth-grade parents and guardians.

Families with questions are encouraged to reach out to the Main Office.

Dear Eagles,

Happy Valentines Week!  We are promoting our Friendship skills this month and our student council is working hard on the Candy Grams.  Parents are also welcome to purchase Candy Grams and can do it in our front office.  Classroom parties and valentine exchanges will happen in the classrooms on Thursday, Feb. 11th.  Please make sure that if treats are included with the valentines that they are individually wrapped.

We are providing a sack for students to collect their valentines in. After valentines have been passed out to everyone, the teachers will staple the bag closed to send home with the students.  Parents can then decide if they feel comfortable allowing their students to open them at home that day or if you’d like to quarantine them for 2-3 days.
