Principal Report

  1. Data Review –
    1. School Accountability Report-Came out the 23rd. Looked at growth scores. Last year we received the TSI (targeted support improvement) status notification. 1 or more groups of students who score below 5% for 2 consecutive years. Our students ML and students with disabilities fell into those groups. We take 2 years to get out of the TSI status. Last year we made exemplary progress with ML learners. We want to make similar gains and we need to broaden conversations school-wide to increase support for ALL students. Our Accommodated Core Classrooms (ACC) classrooms increase the number of students with disabilities but we are measuring all students with IEPs growth. 3 ACC classrooms in Silver Mesa. Working closely to increase supports. Aimee will break down data to show general ed vs acc growth gains
    2. Acadience Testing happened in September – Instructional Coach will report in October-Coach will gather all data and report on it in October. Historically we’ve only tested K-3 in Acadience but now we are moving back to everyone K-5 to testing.
  2. Budgets-Not changing plans for using budget to support. We have reading aides and math aides and 3 aides in kinder.
    1. Cell Tower Money – ACTION REQUIRED-
      1. Typically about 2K in cell tower money
      2. Need approval from 2023-2024
      3. Proposal is to roll over both 2023-24 and 2024-25 into Principal’s Fund

Allows us to do fun things for teachers and prizes for principal prizes and school-wide prizes. Motion by Chelsea, second by Mark. All in favor.

  1. Rollover budget for TSSA and LandTrust-Question from Mark-With the aides does it spend out these funds? Yes, money must be spent on people that support kids directly or for the kids themselves. Can’t append more than $1.50 per student. Most of the money is on professional development or staffing increases. Increased School counselor and music teacher. created position for behavior supports and another staff for check in/out, increased MTSS support staffing. It’s zero not, the carry over allows for extra hours.
  1. Safety-
    1. Drills – Difference in Names-lockdown,-doors locked, out of sight. run, fight, hide options. A few doors remain accessible to law enforcement. Secure drill is when someone in mental health crisis we heard shots. Police were notified. All doors are locked and no one can get inside. We will put paper on door stating secure building cannot be opened. Business in the school remains as normal. Police came in and put us on lockdown but it should have been a secure badge instead. We’ve printed questions to clarify if the threat is inside or outside the building. Lockdown=in the building, secure=safe in the building from something in the neighborhood. Hold is last type-student related issue within the school. Student might be escalated and we have teachers lock their classroom doors.
  1. Fire/Evacuation Drill – August
  2. Lockdown Drill – September
  1. New Cameras-goal is at any point when you walk around the school you can see the camera. They reach south side, all the way into the field. People with access are Angela, Aimee, Lisa and school resource access. Working with the state to get access to law enforcement. Cameras reach far but the cameras cannot get attached to or see around the portables. Ginger asked about Southwest camera. Aimee will check to see how far back into the field by the path. We have had the opportunity to use cameras to follow students on their walk home.
  2. Safe walking routes Moved to next meeting.
  3. Digital Citizenship Moved to next meeting.
  1. Community Feedback and Concerns-Ginger asking about doors on front of building. Met with Ryan Jakeman. Aimee will forward the email. They replaced the broken latch that pulls in the door. There is a little bit of the breeze that will keep the door open. Ginger asked if it’s an issue with a stronger closer. Aimee said there is a number of things that need updates. The situation is rectified but there are still many things to address. Richard Moore is intense and loves policy and we need him!

Adjourn at 7:59. Aimee will send an email to send hers and request our contact information.

Upcoming Assignments:

  • School Safe Walking Routes – Due 11/01/2024
  • Digital Citizenship – Due December, 2024
