Dear Parents,
Thanks for all your support with our Halloween Parade and parties today. Our students had a great time! Stay safe tonight during Trick or Treating!
End of Day Phone Calls
At the end of our school day starting at 2:45, we have only one person in our front office to help with any patron or student needs. We can no longer take or send messages to students for that last ten minutes of the school day. If you need to get information to your child about who is picking them up or other important information, please call before 2:45 pm. Often when parents call at the last minute, it’s tricky to find the student as they may be in Brain Boosters, or doing an end-of-day activity outside, or other activities, and we feel badly if the information isn’t relayed. Please help us get that info to your child by calling before 2:45 pm. Thanks for your help with this.
October Eagle of the Month

Kindness Is Cool
Here are some examples of kindness happening at our school these past couple of months. We have the best students!
Riley Milne (4th) – opening the door for a student who was hurt and needed to go to the nurse’s office
Mara Stoddard, Eleanor Madsen & Aubrey Kuran (3rd) – played a game at recess with a student in another class to help him be included
Dylan Novack (5th) – setting a good example and always doing his best
Kiersten Valdez & Azaylea Olson (5th) – stepping up and helping clean a mess in the bathroom
Chloe Ray (1st) – helping a hurt student find the nurse’s office
Ian Taylor (Kindergarten) – letting a friend use the ball first at recess

*-Reflections & Judges DUE THIS FRIDAY
Students of Silver Mesa! Reflections are due THIS FRIDAY!
SHOW US YOUR VOICE! Reflections 2022 is here! The theme is “Show your voice”. We love to see your original creations in dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, 2D and 3D visual arts.
Reflection will need to be submitted online by Friday Nov. 4, 2023. Use the link below for further information. Now go create!
We will have someone at the school Tuesday 2:45-3:45, Thursday 2:45-3:45, and Friday morning 7:30-8:20, to help you with your online submissions. We are so excited to see what you have created!
We are also looking for judges for Reflections 2022. We need 2-3 judges per category in: Film, music composition, dance choreography, 2D and 3D visual arts, literature and photography. We are swapping judges with Peruvian Park Elementary. We will be judging for their reflections, and they will be judging ours. We do this cause the judges can’t know any of the participants. If you have any expertise in any of these areas, please help us! It is all done online and will need to be done Nov. 5-11. You can do it at home! I have judge before and it is so great to see the creativity of the students!

*-White Ribbon Week- Nov 7-11
PTA sponsors white ribbon week each year to help kids understand how to use technology in safe and healthy ways. Next week, we are hosting with the theme “Let’s Get Real,” which helps students become more aware of their digital time and give priority to real life. Each family will receive a booklet with media conversations to have with your children at home. Our power boosts for next week are:
- I will use technology to show kindness and respect.
- I will give priority to real life relationships.
- I will choose healthy activities to handle stress and boredom.
- I will choose to balance my day.
- I will remember that not everything online is real.
We’d like to make a school slideshow that showcases Silver Mesa students and what they love to do in their “real life” to have fun, beat boredom, relieve stress, etc. Take a picture of your child doing an activity that doesn’t involve screens and send it to silvermesapta@gmail.com. We will create a slideshow for the students to watch. Pictures must be submitted by Thursday, Nov. 10th.
—-Finally, we’ll need help with lunchtime activities. Sign up here to help!
