Monday Minute

Dear Parents,

This week we are beginning our Harry Potter-themed Literacy Month at Silver Mesa!  The transformation has already started and we are enjoying lots of fun décor around our building.  Tomorrow the students will be placed into “Houses” to earn points by completing literacy activities.  We hope to see you all at our Literacy Night on April 21st!

Silver Mesa Host Family Needed

We have the opportunity to have a Spanish Language and Culture Assistant at Silver Mesa for the upcoming 2022/23 school year.  This individual will come from Spain to assist our students and needs somewhere to live. Hosting a Spanish Language and Culture Assistant gives you and your family the chance to learn about new cultures and create lasting friendships.  It can be a highly rewarding opportunity for your family and a wonderful way to discover a different perspective than your own cultural understanding.

Host families need to provide a private room and meals for the assistant.  Walking distance to the school is preferable

Please let me know if you are interested in this incredible experience.

KINDNESS BEGINS WITH ME!

Our Kindness challenge in February has been to “hide a happy bookmark inside a library book”.  Each student has decorated a bookmark and hidden it for a friend to find.  That is 570 happy bookmarks!

As Silver Mesa Eagles we pledge to

  • Always be encouraging and supportive in your words
  • Be responsible and helpful with your actions
  • Be thankful and positive when at all possible
  • Be honest
  • Take responsibility for your actions and make things right when you make a mistake
  • Be considerate and respectful no matter what
  • Be a friend to all

A Note from our Art Teacher

Hello parents!

Be sure to stop by the library before or after your conference to see the student artwork on display. The artwork is from all grade levels and demonstrates mediums such as drawing, painting & collage.
