Monday Minute 5.23.22

Dear Parents,

It’s hard to believe we are at the end of another school year.  It’s been delightful having your children at Silver Mesa this past year!  Thank you for all your support, for your volunteering efforts and for your help at home to make this year successful.  I hope you have a wonderful summer break and that your children enjoy some reading every day!

Full Day Kindergarten

Next year all three of our kindergarten sessions will be full day thanks to a grant from the Utah State Legislature.  There will be no cost to this program.  If you had previously signed up for supplemental kindergarten and paid any fees, those fees will be returned to you.

Thank you, PTA!

Our PTA has been incredible this past year and provided so many great activities for our students.  Thank you for your amazing support of Silver Mesa.  We appreciate it!  And thank you to the many volunteers that step in to make these activities possible.

Lost and Found

We have quite a few items in our Lost and Found.  We’ll pull it out during our Dance Festival so you can browse through them and hopefully the lost jackets, coats, and lunch boxes can find their home.

May Eagles of the Month

Congratulations to all of our wonderful students who earned the honor of Eagle of the Month!  I’ll be visiting their classrooms in the next day or two to celebrate with them.

SCHOOL’S OUT, FOOD’S IN: Did you know that when school is out for the summer, Canyons District students can still get school breakfast and lunch? In fact, all children 18 years and younger are eligible to receive nutritional meals free of charge through Canyons’ federally-approved Summer Food Service Program. The 2022 Summer Food program will begin on June 1 and run through July 29. Unlike the pandemic, when sack meals were distributed curbside, these meals will be served inside school cafeterias at the following four, centrally-located sites. At all sites, Monday through Friday, breakfast will be served from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be no meal service on July 4 and July 25 when Canyons schools close in observance of national and state holidays.
