We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving last week! We welcome everyone back to school today, whether it’s in-person or at home. We’ll be working hard these next three weeks before Winter Recess.
Eagle of the Month
We celebrated our November Eagles of the Month last week and want to honor each of these students for their hard work. At the end of this email is a list of our awesome Eagles!
Drop off/Pick up Lane
Just a reminder that when you are picking up or dropping off a student, you need to stay inside your vehicle. If your child needs additional help, please park in our parking lot to help them get in or out. Thanks for helping our process go smoothly!
Kindness Is Cool
Here are some more examples of kindness happening at our school these past couple of weeks. We have the best students!
Mathew Glad (5th grade)—offering to take work to a friend while the friend was out sick
Addie Gaudin (5th grade)—putting kind notes on teacher’s and students’ desks.
Beckett O’Keefe (kindergarten)—Showing a friend how to count and write math equations
Emma Thor (4th grade)—helping another student
Mekiel Arutyunyan (2nd grade)—Allowing a new student to take his spot, ensuring the new student felt comfortable
Brooke Portiss (2nd grade)—Being patient with classmates to make sure every voice is heard.

Science Fair
Silver Mesa is still planning to hold an in-person science fair! We are excited to see the fun projects students are working on. The fair is scheduled for Monday, January 11, 2021. Due to the need for social distancing and the limited rooms available this year, students MUST REGISTER by December 7, 2020 to participate. I am sorry, but students who do not register by the deadline, will not be able to display their projects or participate in judging. Students can register at the Silver Mesa PTA website: https://silvermesapta.org/Article/View/Science-Fair. I will be communicating any changes (which there are sure to be in this crazy year) and sending helpful information via email to those who register – so please include an email address if you want this information. In the event school is closed during the scheduled fair, I will each out to all 5th grade participants regarding the possibility of participating the CSD fair.
As a reminder, participants NEED TO FILL OUT THE ISEF FORM BEFORE STARTING A PROJECT. The form needs to be signed by their teacher. This can be found and printed from:https://usef.utah.edu/ Go to the bottom of the page where “Participate” is listed. Below that is ISEF paperwork. Participants need to have decided on a project to fill out the form. As indicated in the safety paperwork, mold or bacteria may only be grown at a qualified lab. Silver Mesa does not have a lab. You will need to go to the following website to get information about available labs if your project requires: https://usef.utah.edu/resource-center/find-a-lab.
