Dear Parents,
It is important that we obtain an accurate list of all children qualifying for kindergarten in the Canyon School District for the 2023-2024 school year. If you have a child that will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2023 the child qualifies for next year’s kindergarten program. State law requires that all school districts in Utah abide by the same September 1st entrance cut-off date.
If your student qualifies for kindergarten, please fill out the district online form at this link: New Student Enrollment. All students need to enroll in the district first to be placed in the Skyward system. There is an additional registration process to complete in August. More information will come about registration as the date gets closer.
If you live outside of Silver Mesa Elementary boundaries, you are welcome and
encouraged to register as well. Open Enrollment for out of boundary students ends on
February 17, 2023. Permit requests after this date will be added to a waiting list and accepted upon availability. The Online Permit Portal is on the Canyons District website.
If you know of a neighbor that has a qualifying kindergarten child, please share this information with them and tell them to call the school and register their kindergarten child.
Silver Mesa will continue to have full day kindergarten classes. There is no tuition fee for this full-day program at Silver Mesa. It is funded at several district schools by our state legislature.
We will be hosting a Kindergarten Orientation this spring to welcome all new kindergarten students and let them meet their teachers, see the school, and get questions answered.
