Dear Parents,
It’s May, and we’re excited to have some nice weather and sunshine! Our recess breaks are much more fun without the rain. Our Playworks coach is planning to do PE outside when the weather is good. If your child has a water bottle, it is recommended s/he bring it for sure on those days they have Playworks to take it with them during Brain Boosters.
Teacher of the Year
We want to congratulate Sarah Smith again for her accomplishments! She was a finalist in the district for the District Teacher of the Year. We are proud of her! Way to go, Mrs. Smith!
Staffing
We do have some changes in staffing for next year and want to say thanks to our great teachers who have served Silver Mesa so well. We truly appreciate them. They are leaving for a variety of reasons—moving out of state, exploring new education and opportunities, transferring to new positions, etc. We wish them the very best. Here is who is leaving this year:
Sam Milianta, 1st grade
Silvia Sanz, 1st grade Spanish
Shaeli Bettridge, Resource
Laura Arbeloa, 4th grade Spanish
Katie Penn, ACC teacher
Nisty Tharp, Art teacher
Library News
Hello Silver Mesa Students and Parents!
This is the last week for our students to check out books! You may be receiving emails about late or lost books your student has checked out, and will be receiving a paper notice this week! If you have turned books in or cannot find them, please don’t worry. Every book in the library will be re-scanned and hopefully this will find those books that have been turned in and were missed in the return process. I do appreciate all of the books that have been returned or paid for thus far. You can pay for books in the office, cash or check. Please note that you will continue to receive automatic messages, until we find them!
Thank you for your all your help as we end another fabulous school year!

Learning Environment Forms due May 9th
On rare occasions there may be a need to request a specific learning environment for your child. Attached here is a form you can use to make this request. All requests must be completed by May 9th so we can begin creating classes for the next school year. Please understand that requests after this date are very difficult to process. A lot of thought and care go into our class lists, as we try to meet the needs of all students as well as balance the numbers. Thanks for understanding.
