Pick Up – Last Call 3.23.2020

We will be handing out chrome books tomorrow, March 23, 2020 from 7:30-9:00 am.  Instead of having you come in the building, please stay in your vehicles and we’ll come out to you.  Just loop around in the north parking lot so that the first car in line is by the north doors entering into the gym facing east.  If you have signed up for a chrome book on the survey sent out last week, we do have one available for you with your child’s name on it.  If you write your child’s name on a paper to show out your window, that may help us go a little quicker, but it’s not required.

If you did not sign up, we have a few extra ready to hand out.  We can also give them out to families with more than one student in our school.  (Previously we had limited that to one per family.)  This will be a first-come, first-serve situation and once we are out of the chrome books that have been managed, we can’t allocate more.  Again, we do have one for everyone who signed up on the survey.

If you are also wanting printed student learning packets and math books, just let us know when you drive up.

I want to give a shout out to several staff members:

  • Field tech, who has been working hard to get chrome books ready to deploy in four different schools.
  • Librarian, who has logged them in the library system and been present for all check-outs
  • Front office staff, who were run off their feet last Thursday getting these resources ready and delivered to our community

I appreciate their dedication to our students!

Please know that we are practicing social distancing and will be wearing gloves as we deliver the items to you.

Chromebook Requests

Last night the district office sent out a survey to see how many students would like to check out a chrome book to use at home.  Principals have been tasked with arranging a time for you to pick them up.  We are working on them right now and should be ready for pick up by 1:00 this afternoon and will stay open for pick up until 3:00.

We’ll have you come to the north doors into the cafeteria like we are doing this morning for packet and math book pick up.  You must register on the district survey and agree to the conditions listed there.  If your name is not on that survey, we can’t check one out to you, so please do that process first.

Many of you have more than one student here, but we are only allowing one chrome book checked out per family.  We won’t be checking out iPads.

Thank you for rolling with the changes that keep coming!  Please reach out to the school phone or by email to get information.

Take care,

Julie Fielding, Principal

Packet Pick Up

Silver Mesa is planning to be open to deliver learning packets from 9:00-noon tomorrow, Thursday, March 19, so long as we don’t have another natural disaster!  If you know of someone who can’t come during that time, you are welcome to take a packet to them if they have made that arrangement with you.  And perhaps I can leave some outside overnight if it’s not raining.

To maintain social distancing, please enter the school through the north doors to come into the gym or cafeteria.  Send only one person in to pick up what is needed for the family.

We will also have the students’ math consumable workbooks available that you are welcome to take home.  You don’t need to be sure you have your child’s exact workbook, just take one from the pile.  The students won’t be using the math workbook for the next week and a half as they’ll have the learning packet, but after that it could be helpful.  Again, it’s not necessary, just a resource if you’d like it.

Thanks for your patience once again.  We’ll get into a routine eventually I hope!

Julie Fielding, Principal Silver Mesa Elementary
