Literacy Month

We finished our quidditch competition this past week in grades 3-5–ask your students about it! Thanks to all the parents who have helped with Honeydukes, quidditch, and point tallying.  We appreciate you!

Our second set of Reading Minutes (green sheet in your student packet) are due today, but you can always turn them in late. Reading minutes turned in earn points for your child’s house.  Next Monday is the last day to turn in literacy work and points.

This week:

Monday:  Spelling O.W.L.’s at recess–students can earn points for spelling Harry Potter words correctly

Tuesday:  LAST school-hour HONEYDUKES during lunchtime.

Thursday:  Spelling Bee 9:00am

Literacy Night. is ONE WEEK away! Tuesday, March 29th, 5-8:00 pm. We still have many spots to fill.  Please consider helping to run a station for an hour, or even split an hour with a friend or spouse.  We ALSO have spots for Silver Mesa Alumni to come serve as “prefects” at our Study Hall.  We’d love to have some former SM students help out.  BONUS–see your old teachers!

We will have food trucks at Literacy Night starting at 5:00pm, and the book fair will be open.  We’d love to have you join us for:  Fiore Pizza, Waffle Luv, Smoke-a-Billy BBQ, Sabor Colombiano & Lollipuff.  Plus, Honeydukes will be selling Butterbeer and other fine delectables beginning at 6:00pm.  🙂

Midvale’s Road Home.  5 points are awarded per each pair of socks!

Maturation Programs for 5th grade—2 dates left

To ensure fifth-grade students and their parents are able to take advantage of Canyons District’s popular maturation program, eight presentations have been scheduled through the month of March at four locations. The aim with this program is to provide consistent, sensitive and approved health and maturation instruction districtwide. All girls and boys presentations are conducted by Carrie Ann Kemp, a popular professional speaker who has been educating and entertaining young audiences, and their parents, for more than 20 years. Families may attend the presentation that best fits their schedule. Parents are advised to leave younger siblings at home.  A schedule of dates and locations is at the end of this email.
