School Safety Report
Did you feel the information presented in the District School Community Council School Safety Report was helpful? (https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/safe-schools/) The information was good but some felt like it has not really changed since the recent school shootings and probably needs to be updated. Silver Mesa has started to lock the north door to the cafeteria in the morning so that the only door that remains open is the main entrance. We have also implemented the Watch DOG program and we are seeing some success already.
Silver Mesa’s #1 safety concern Closing off the school campus.
Other primary concerns
- Closed fence, this is a big concern. There are several areas that are not completely fenced in and allow easy access to the school yard. We would like to have a completely closed campus.
- Privacy slats across the entire front fence area by the playground.
- Better cameras in the school yard area (some of this may be taken care of at the district level).
Action plan
Digital Citizenship Report
School happenings
- PTA Fundraiser was a big success
- Red Ribbon Week
- We still need a recess aid
Report cards will be coming out soon.
